Organizations I Support

Just a quick list of a few organizations I think are making a difference.

Enhancing the quality of life in the Near East side of Madison, no longer on Atwood, and no longer called the Atwood Community Center, the Goodman-Atwood Community Center is housed in the beautifully renovated Kupfer Iron Works, a long under utilized remnant of the east sides industrial roots. It is home to a pre-school program, food pantry, MSCR classes, work out facility and a cafe run by youth. They also publish the East Side News a bi-monthly paper with all you need to know about this lovely part of town.

The Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center
willy st fairEnhancing the quality of life in the even more Near East side of Madison, the Wil-mar neighborhood center runs all sorts of programs from its small home on Jenifer St., they also head up and organize many of the neighborhood festivals. I am most involved in its newest offering, the Fete de Marquette, a french (which in Madison is another excuse for “world music) themed event held the weekend closest to Bastille Days. I help organize an auction that benefits the center and the Community Action Coalition. I have also put my superior salesmanship to work pushing Willy St. Fair Posters to the masses. Thank you Jim Yeadon for this candid shot.

Come Home to Riverside Foundation
The proud product of the Milwaukee Public School System I support the charitable arm of Riverside University High School. I have yet to make a donation large enough to name a scholarship for but I value the values I walked away with from this inner-city magnet school that still is a jewel in the struggling Milwaukee Public School system.

Christ Presbyterian Church
My home church, and one that supports many local and global charities. Habitat for Humanity, and The Interfaith Hospitality Network are just a few of the local outreach missions. The bagpipes and music program at our first visit made quite an impression as did the deep pockets, big hearts and big goals of the congregation. In my years there I have served as a Deacon, a member of the Welcome and Hospitality Commission, and as part of the Vision Discernment Team. Our most recent pursuit is a focus on outreach to local internationals including a free imigration law clinic.
